The BMW Foundation in Brazil

Report 2015

The BMW Foundation initiated its activities in Brazil in 2012, when Sandra Ortiz Diaz, responsible for the Foundation’s Latin America strategy, attended the Social Enterprise World Forum in Rio de Janeiro. Since then, the Foundation has approached more than 25 organizations, including multi-national corporations, media corporations, and social innovation groups, creating an ecosystem that drives positive social change. The report offers an overview of the foundation’s network partners and its work in Brazil.

4th Global Pro Bono Summit

Recap

Together with the Taproot Foundation and local host Conjunct Consulting, the BMW Foundation hosted the 4th Global Pro Bono Summit in Singapore. This year's conference put a special emphasis on the Asian pro bono market. This report sums up the outcomes.

BMW Foundation Global Table 2014/15

E-Book

The 1st Berlin Global Forum on November 13 marks the conclusion of the first cycle of our new event series: the BMW Foundation Global Table. The aim of the series is to improve the dialogue between Europe and the emerging economies. This e-book features contributions from participants of the five Global Tables that made up the first cycle and focuses on the key topics of the 1st Berlin Global Forum: energy security, China’s New Silk Road initiative, and the global dimension of the refugee crisis.
This e-book is published in cooperation with Herder-Verlag and will be available in an expanded form as a print book in early 2016.

New Pact for Europe

Towards a New Pact for Europe

The report is designed to feed into the on-going discussions about the Union’s future as the new EU leadership team takes charge. It aspires to contribute to the debate on how to introduce ambitious while at the same time workable and realistic reforms to make the EU more effective in responding to the challenges Europeans are facing. The report will be discussed in a majority of Member States with policy-makers, EU experts, stakeholders and citizens. The outcome of this process will impact the future progress of the New Pact for Europe
initiative, which was launched by a consortium of 11 European foundations in 2012. The BMW Foundation is part of the initiative.

Global Social Intrapreneurship Summit

The Future’s An Inside Job

At the 1st Global Social Intrapreneurship Summit in Berlin, the League of Intrapreneurs brought together 36 participants from around the world to explore how they can collectively advance the social intrapreneurship movement. By identifying those individuals and teams inside large institutions – particularly inside business, but also governments and NGOs – who are creating positive change, the League of Intrapreneurs aims helping to amplify their impact. During the summit, they identified and agreed four priorities for the movement.

The Reality of Impact Investing:

Stories from the Field

Save the world and make money at the same time? A former British banker and a former British bank robber want to do this just as two Indian entrepreneurs and a German educator for hearing-impaired persons. They promote the rehabilitation of former prisoners, run biomass power stations to generate energy from rice husks or offer a mobile interpreting service for deaf persons. Their investors are so-called impact investors: they stand security, give credits or equity capital to social or environmental projects, and they want to do good while making money at the same time.

Rising Stars, Tired Champions? The Transatlantic Economic Area and the New Growth Markets

On both sides of the Atlantic, societies seems to have forgotten the importance of an economic policy conducted with a view to the long run. The dangers and risks of a policy that works only in the short term were one of the topics that were addressed during the 5th Transatlantic Economic Dialogue.
