Cross-Sectoral Cooperations
At a time of increasing specialization and complexity, our society passes up major opportunities because of its sectoral “pillarization.” Leaders in politics and business often do not know each other’s decision-making logic. Only few people have a clear idea of the fact that there has long existed a steadily growing and professionalizing “third sector” in between governments and businesses. By focusing on cross-sectoral competencies, we want to help decision-makers from all sectors to anticipate, access, and thus actively use the possibilities and options open to their counterparts in other sectors. The goal is to enable cross-sectoral cooperation and to avoid parallel structures and “silo mentality.”
As a cross-sectoral “transformer station,” the BMW Stiftung Herbert Quandt promotes the interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral cooperation on the part of international leaders and decision-makers from business, governments, academia, and the third sector.
