Infrapolitics
Three terms characterize the Infrapolitics Project: probability, politics and aesthetics. The group considers utopias, disruptions, failures, topographies, visualizations, and incomplete designs to be the substrate of the effort to rethink the fate of both the politics and the polis in an age of transforming media and communication systems. The scientists aim to produce a topography of our contemporary world and the possibilities and potentialities latent within our design practices, scholarships, and networks. The project’s purpose is, firstly, to produce anticipatory designs that can answer to the future; secondly, to investigate the nature of political action and aesthetics in the present; thirdly, to develop new methods for research and presentation in design, the humanities, and the social sciences; and finally, to produce new forms of pedagogy that pursue alternative model of engagement with the built environment, especially as they pertain to infrastructure and design.
