Social Entrepreneurship Academy
The Social Entrepreneurship Academy was founded in 2010 as a network organization of four Munich-based institutions of higher education. The work of the Academy is currently based on three pillars: it offers a qualification program, provides specific support to social entrepreneurial start-ups, and seeks to promote the development of a broad network to establish the topic of social entrepreneurship more firmly in society.
As part of its qualification program, the Academy provides interested individuals with specific knowledge and competencies in the field of social entrepreneurship. The focus of the training, which can be taken alongside one’s university education or regular job, is on developing and analyzing entrepreneurial concepts and ideas and applying them to urgent social issues. Currently, the program supports three start-ups: Fair Observer, Sira Munich, and Rock Your Life! Munich.
Together with other partners, the BMW Foundation has supported the development of the Social Entrepreneurship Academy. As an active member of the Academy’s advisory board, the Foundation also provides crucial support to the further development of the Academy – not just financially, but also through strategic advice and consulting. The common goal is to establish the topic of “social innovation” firmly in civil society in order to give concrete impetus for launching social entrepreneurial activities, trigger debate on the potential for change in society, and ensure links with already existing discourses.
